End of Week 12

Mark Babich, Elijah Primachenko

This Sunday, we did a spectacular event for Easter. Even though Easter is next week, we as a special event are doing 3 services of a play of Jesus's last days before and after his resurrection. If you guys wish to see it, look on Living Stream Churches website to check it out or clink on this link. Then on Monday, we found out that our teacher is Victor Kurylenko. He is a blind man from the age of 7 or 8. He is a very popular preacher and guest speaker for many churches. He taught us about Demonology. It is the study of demons and angels. We also learned about the Holy Spirit. Most of the students were not interested in the subject of demons and angels, but the Holy Spirit seemed to catch everyone's attention. We also had a free evening because the administration was very pleased with the work we had done on Saturday and Sunday. On Tuesday, we had choir practice again but this time, it was for Wednesday and this upcoming Sunday. On Wednesday, we performed on stage. Even though there was not much or as big event as on Sunday, it was very important with the rest of the program. If you wish to see the event or service, go to Living Streams Church website or click on this link. On Friday, we went to an American home to perform and be taken as guests into their house. Not only did they have a huge house and lovely scenery, but they also had a big heart to take our class into their home. They are a family that allowed one of their homes to be used for the students to live in one year. From that year, they decided to invite the whole SMBS class to their home to support the school and the students and to encourage to do God's work. On Saturday, we held a concert at a park that Mitt Romny held a speech at. We sang songs and played in the park till 3. Then, we went to practice our play for Sunday's Service. We finished that only at 11PM. So if anyone thinks that we don't do anything here, we can assure you that we are barely keeping up with the work here in school, let alone do the extra circular actiivities that we do here such as concerts and such as that.

Here is a few pictures of this week from various students here at the school.

End of Week 11

Mark Babich, Elijah Primachenko

Our teacher for this week is Victor Voznyuk. He taught Evangelism. He was really big on making the distinction between an Evangelist and a Missionary. In case you don't know the difference, an Evangelist is one who works on his home land to preach the saving Grace of Jesus Christ our Lord while a Missionary is one that goes out of his homeland to preach to all nations of Jesus Christ. We have to realize that this missionary bible school is not just for Missionaries, but also to train Pastors, Evangelists and many other leaders for other churches. We also had Street Evangelism where we brought food to the homeless on the streets and prayed with them that wished for prayer. This is an amazing experience and is worth doing if you wish to preach and share the Gospel to other people. On Tuesday, we practiced for this upcoming Sunday. this Sunday, we are holding a 3 service play that is run by our students. We will be on the 24th, 27th, and the 31st. If you wish to see it, you can watch it on www.lscjax.com. On Wednesday, we then studied for the Bible Quiz that was on Saturday. If you wish to watch that too, you can look it on the website as well. On Friday, we had choir practice again for this Sunday and prepared more for the Bible Quiz. The rest of the evening was then used to study. On Saturday, we enjoyed sleeping in and studying right before the Bible Quiz. The Bible Quiz itself was very intense. You would sit there and only squirm in your seat, waiting only to get up on stage to even get it over with. When you are on stage, you forget everything and not only that, you can feel your heart beating as if you are getting shot by a machine gun. We did not win. We didn't even get passed the first round. The people that won deserved to win because of the effort they put in studying the book of Matthew. For those that watched, you can tell that the questions are very easy. For those that didn't watch it yet, you can still see it on the website that is earlier in the post.

Here is a few pictures of this week from various students here at the school.

End of Week 10

Mark Babich, Elijah Primachenko

On Sunday, we held a banquet for local Americans that support SMBS right in the main sanctuary. We held a small service and even had a chance to talk to them about our mission here at this school. They were not only encouraged to support the school, but also encouraged us to keep striving forward toward Christ. On Monday, we meet Victor Dorofeev. He instructed us on the New Testament. He knows almost all the New Testament by heart and taught us in depth of each book in the New Testament. On Tuesday, during Choir practice, we figured out that something big was going to happen. Not only was Easter around the corner, but we learned 8 songs in one practice that we were expected to know by heart. It was probably the most intense choir practice that we had all year. During the week, we also were getting ourselves ready for our first car wash on Saturday. On Friday, instead of having our instructor (because he left early to visit the next event for him to attend at another church), we had a car wash prep course where we learned how to run the car washes. On Saturday, we had our first car wash. We raised about $9,500 in about 6 hours. It almost beat last years record which is about $100 off from $10,000. We not only raised money, but we also got some rednecks as well. We came back home from a sunny day that left 5 students having blisters on there face because the sun burn was that bad. Mark was one of the students that got blisters from it. But we thank God so much for giving us the opportunity to go out there and raise money for missions.

End of Week 9

Mark Babich, Elijah Primachenko

On Monday, we meet our instructor Victor Koroteev. He was teaching about homiletics, which is the art of preaching. We had to say 3 sermons during the week. Each sermon was graded and tested to see if it was a well written and composed sermon. Most of the students seemed very overwhelmed by just preparing for the sermon. We also had street evangelism on Monday. To evangelize, we had to drive to downtown and try to communicate to people that were in a hurry to get home. They most likely had a long day of work and are very hungary too. We figured that out when we said hello, or excuse me, and they just walk past you as if you don't exist. Wednesday through Friday was the same and was really simple. On Saturday, we had a free evening and we decided to go the park with our class for on of our students birthday.

Here is a couple pictures of this week from various students here at the school.

End of Week 7 and 8

Mark Babich, Elijah Primachenko

We had 3 teachers for the past 2 weeks. 1st one was Pavel Zhelnovakov on Ecclesiology, the study of the church such as what the church is described. We hear this a lot but you might not understand the terminology. It is saying that the church is the house of God, the temple, bride and body of Christ. We all understand that better, now don't we? Then we had Alex Muzichuk which taught us about how to pray. He shared many types of prayers that people practice today and how they all can influence our lives. Our last instructor was Bogdan Bondaranko. He taught us about having a personal relationship with God and about honoring your leaders. During the 1st week, we had to prepare for the Talent show on Sunday. It was about tradition. Too bad they didn't put up a video up yet of the talent show but they are selling them for $10. I'll try to send a disc home when I get a copy. But here is a video that a group of students made from last Wednesday. It became the new slogan for the guy that made himself famous  On Saturday, we had a family day at the church. They had balloon buildings for the kids, a petting zoo, train rides, and even a volleyball tournament. On Wednesday of this week, Mark's group presented on the topic of Humbleness. Here is a video that they made with there group. Then we had a bon fire at the church for a girls birthday party. It was really fun. Then on that Saturday, the class went to St. Augustine. It is a really old town where the first Spanish settlers settled. Very beautiful place to be in.

End of Week 6

Mark Babich, Elijah Primachenko

On Sunday, we sang at church with the SMBS choir. We sang for the worship and a few choir songs that our choir director gave us to sing on that Sunday. Then we had youth out on the beach. It was awesome because we were able to hang out with Gene Pavlenko. It was one of the best youth services so far. Then Monday came along and we had our instructor, Vasiliy Parinik from the conference, teach us about Other world religions such as Islam, Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses, and several others that are big in the world and that we will most likely encounter during our missionary trips. We also had so many birthday's this week. There was about 3 or 4 if I'm not mistaken. We then were given a form to fill out about where we want to go on missions for the missions trip. We will not say in this blog post because you guys will probably find out pretty fast from people. We then had many goodies on Valentines day. Will show you a picture of of cake pop in the pictures below. Then on Saturday, we worked on our group presentations for school. We will not show you the pictures of what we did then so it can be a surprise when we present it to the class. We then went to a birthday party on Saturday to finish off our week.

Here is a few pictures of this week from various students here at the school.

End of Week 5

Mark Babich, Elijah Primachenko

This week was our first instructor that spoke English. Wayne Young is his name from a city called Gainsville in Florida. Only 2 hours away from the school we go to. He is not only a powerful speaker, but he is also a man that has the qualities or characteristics of Christ. His topic for this week is called Living NEW. NEW stands for Never Ending Worship. We also had a group present on Wednesday about Faith. They spent a lot of there time to make this presentation happen and even made a short movie clip about it. Here is the Link for it. We then had a Youth Conference on Friday and Saturday. We had 3 speakers. Lika Roman (Miss Ukraine 2007), Serge Gavrilov (From Tajikistan), and Vasiliy Parinik (From Seattle Washington). They all discussed about the importance of Prayer to direct your life and calling that God has called you. you can watch the conference on the Living Stream Website if you wish to get all the information that they have. If you want to START on finding out what your calling is, I recommend watching the conference. Hope to see you guys soon as I continue to update this blog.
